Prospects Back On Winning Track

Wednesday night marked the beginning of a 3-game road trip for our Prospects and our boys started the trip with a win! Never trailing in the game, the Prospects defeated the Brooks Bombers 5-2.
Jake Lanferman would lead off the top of the 2nd inning with a single and would come around to score to give our Prospects a 1-0 lead.
Aidan Huggins would lead off the top of the 3rd inning with a single and would be brought home by Michael Gahan. Erik Sabrowski, extending his personal hit streak to 6 games, would double bringing home Gahan making the score 3-0.
Prospects starting pitcher Taran Oulton would allow a run in the bottom of the 3rd and 4th. With the bases loaded, 2-out in the bottom of the 4th Oulton would strike out Lee Thomas to maintain the Prospects 3-2 lead. Oulton’s final line on the evening was a solid 6IP 6H 2R 4BB 5K.
Sabrowski would pick up his 2nd RBI of the game in the top of the 5th inning driving home Derek Shedden to extend the Prospects lead to 4-2.
After falling behind 0-2 in the count, Lanferman earned a bases loaded walk in the top of the 7th inning to further extend the lead to 5-2.
Scott Gillespie would take over on the mound for the Prospects in the 7th inning. Gillespie entered the game with 0.00 ERA and left the game with his ERA intact! His final line for the evening – 3IP 1H 0R 2BB 4K.
Play Of The Game: A 4-6-3 double play in the bottom of the 7th inning by our Prospects defense snuffed out the only momentum the Bombers were able to establish against reliever Scott Gillespie.
Player Of The Game: With an RBI in the 3rd and 5th inning, Erik Sabrowski earns this honour. His personal 6-game hit streak has raised his batting average to a team leading .382.
Next Game: The beginning of a 2-game road set in Regina versus the Eastern leading Red Sox. First pitch goes Thursday night at 7:05PM.
